Important Covid-19 Update: Precautionary Measures – Live Streaming

Hello Tapestry Family,

As you know, we are facing a world health crisis with the outbreak of COVID-19. Under the California state guidelines, all large gatherings should be cancelled or postponed as a way of preventing the spread of the virus. For the past few days, the pastors and staff have been prayerfully discussing how to respond as a church. After much deliberation, we have decided to suspend all large gatherings including Sunday service and launch a livestream only service at 10am on Sundays.

Our decision does not come from a place of fear or anxiety, but rather love. One of our main callings as the church body is to love our neighbors and our city. Research has shown that the elderly and those with underlying health conditions are at the highest risk of experiencing severe illness due to COVID-19. Taking proactive measures like suspending large gatherings is a tangible way of protecting the vulnerable of the city. It is part of our social responsibility as Christians and reflects the heart of Jesus, who always sought to protect the most vulnerable.

In times like this, it is important to remember that the church is not an event or a building, but a people saved by grace and filled with the Spirit. Our Sunday gathering might be cancelled, but not our calling to be the people of God. As our world responds to this crisis with fear, anxiety, and uncertainty, the temptation for us will be to do the same. But Jesus calls His disciples to walk a different path- to practice the way of sacrificial love instead of self-preservation and to be defined by faith rather than fear. The church has always been at its best in times of difficulty by loving our neighbors well, serving those who are hurting, and trusting in God through it all. May this be the same path that members of Tapestry walk on during this season.

In light of this decision, we are taking the following actions:
  • Sunday Services will be suspended until further notice. We will be live-streaming our Sunday services at 10am through our website or church app.
  • Friday night prayer meetings will be cancelled for the remainder of the prayer season. We will be providing content on the app to facilitate guided prayer as a church.
  • Cell groups are encouraged to meet digitally during the week. Although we are not meeting in person, the key is to remain connected at this time.
  • All other church-related events and activities are either canceled or suspended until further notice.

Keep in Mind:
  •  If you are sick, please stay home and contact your primary care provider. (Symptoms include: fever, cough, and shortness of breath)
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Regularly wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds throughout the day.
  • As much as social distancing is important to protecting the physical health of our people, we encourage our members to find innovative ways to connect with each other to protect the emotional and mental well-being from the social recession COVID-19 may bring.

All future updates will be given through social media, email, and the church app.

Thank you,

- TLA Staff
